Wedding and Honeymoons in Grenada

For many, the criteria for the ideal wedding setting describe Grenada. Lush mountain waterfalls, glorious beaches, tropical gardens and grand plantation homes are just some of the some special locales that are available on the island. Officiants are available to perform religious and personalized non-denomination nuptials. Local flowers, foods, music and handcrafted wedding favors can help make a Grenada wedding like no other.

Grenada also has resorts big enough to accommodate large groups, plus small initimate resorts and villas in all price ranges. Getting married in Grenada is relatively simple. No medical blood tests are required. Couples must reside on the island for three days prior to applying for their license, so weddings should be planned for the fourth day or later. This leaves couples with plenty of time for pre-wedding outings, either with guests or on their own.

There are many ways to personalize a wedding on Grenada. A catamaran might transport the couple and their guests to a secluded offshore island beach backed by a forest of coconut, sea grape and almond trees, with a floral arch and a backdrop of surrounding islands for the ceremony. A walk through a spice planataton scented with cinnamon and nutmeg which leads into a private garden or on the lawn of an elegant manor house. Couples also might opt to exchange their vows in front of one of Grenada's cascading waterfalls, surrounded by wild flowers and lush rainforest vegetations.

Special local touches can start with elegant locally produced invitations featuring a visual floral theme that might be echoed in the programs and wedding favors. Live steel pan music, special foods, and fragrant local flowers used in floral arches, fresh hair flowers for the bouquet and boutonniere, and petal confetti add local flair to a wedding. Individually sewn, hand-painted spice bags and handcrafted spice necklaces, a traditional local gift, make unique wedding announcements or wedding favors. Gift baskets packed with island made items such as rum, organic body oils, soaps, scents and spices, along with a music CD or guidebook, enhance the happy memories of both the island and the nuptials for the wedding party and their guests.

For couples inviting family and friends to their wedding, Grenanda's rich array of eco-adventures into the rainforest, around and under the sea, and through the mangroves make it eay to turn a wedding into a memorable multi-day reunion. Mountain biking, hiking, sailing and kayaking are just a few of the ways to experience Grenada's diverse natural attractions together. Less active guests might prefer an expertly guided sea tour of the coast in a smooth riding raft. Spa treatments, golf, tennis, and other activities are also available.

Honeymoons
Grenada delivers the Caribbean fantasy, but with a unique twist. Thanks to its volcanic origins, pristine beaches come in white and black sands. Coral encrusted shipwrecks, undersea walls and one of the world's only underwater sculpture gardens delight divers and snorkelers. Guided hikes into the fragrant, mountain rain forests often include a stop to swim under a secluded waterfall or to soak in natural hot springs, surrounded by jungle. Couples can head to a secluded island for a private beach picnic, or pilot an inflatable boak along the Caribbean coast. For some, romance means kayaking out from Grand Anse beach to watch the sunset, and perhaps catch the famed green flash that occurs as the sun sinks into the horizon, or gliding along on a pedal boat in a secluded bay for a sunset toast. The ultimate Grenada experience is a sunset cruise dinner under the stars or on a moonlit walk along a tranquil beach.
