Mandalay Bay's Minus5 Ice Lounge

Minus5 Ice Lounge an all-ice indoor bar and lounge. Nearly everything in this 2000 square foot space is made of ice, from the walls, tables and hand sculpted figures to the benches and glasses. Most people only last 30 to 45 minutes in here, a loaner parka comes with paid admission. However there is a $20 fur-coat upgrade which seems like a good investment.

Nightclubs periodically redecorate to keep decor fresh, the lounge plans to update its look frequently. Every six months, the walls will be refilled with fresh ice. Every six weeks, sculptors will create new figures.

Marketing focus has been on small events, small-group meetings and even weddings. At the far end of the lounge is a chapel like area built from ice stained windows and pews, ice sculptures and an ice candelabra. Hosting parties price varies, but the cost of admission $30 which includes a vodka cocktail. The lounge also features a $70 VIP experience that includes two cocktails, a fur coat upgrade, a 5x7 framed photo and souvenir Eskimo hat.

Adjacent to the Ice Lounge is the Minus5 Lodge, its warm, inviting counterpart. Ironwood beams, leatherseats, an open hearth and artifact from famous explorers convey a rustic feel, as if stepping off the slopes into a camping lodge in Aspen. Available for group functions and private parties, the lodge seats 150 in a cocktail style seating.
